I took pictures of the kids playing outside this morning (~11am), and it kicked my butt! I had no idea that taking pictures in manual mode under such direct sunlight would be such a challenge. The kids themselves were in the shade, but setting my exposure to light them properly meant that the sunny areas of the grass were completely blown out. I tried to correct it on my computer, but didn't have much luck. Yikes. I now understand why early morning/late evening is the commonly-agreed-upon best time for portraits... the light is more flattering and so much easier to work with! Here are a few of the kids... the best of the bunch:
And here are two more pictures I took of the night sky, at sunset and shortly after. I can't wait to take pictures of a full moon, but that won't be for another two weeks or so!
